Outlook: Blank Folder List after MS Office KB2817630 Installed

A wonderful patch Tuesday (or patch week more like it if you are using the one, some many approach as I hope you are) is being had by all and it seems that Microsoft has released yet another bad patch.  If you installed the latest round of patches, there were a few for Microsoft Office 2013.  I have one that is persistently failing, but that is for another post.  This one installs correctly but results in your Outlook Folder list, typically on the left of your main outlook screen, to be blank.  In addition, when you click in the blank area, it minimizes to the left.  Re-expanding the view will show you a momentary glimpse of your folders; in the end you will just have another blank bar awaiting you.
The offending KB article number is KB2817630.  When viewing installed updates in Programs and Features, just do a search for that KB number and you will typically see three updates related to it.  Remove all three, reboot, and your folder list should be back.  Hopefully Microsoft will be relatively quick with a forthcoming patch to fix the patch.  Yet another patchmare month for sysadmins everywhere.
