Microsoft Digital Crimes Unit

Yes, that's right, the MS-DCU.  Not it's not a patch we all will have to install.  It's the veritable Digital CSI run by Microsoft.  Some may argue that Microsoft has no business wielding the "big stick" of justice, but I think what they are trying to accomplish is commendable.  Using legal action to take down the people running these large botnets that are reeking havoc with identity theft as their main goal.
How, pray tell, does a company like Microsoft get the clout with the courts to go after these baddies?  Why, by asserting a civil suite stating that the defendants (the botnet owners) are violating MS's trademarks.  Not only are they pushing back against the botnets, but they have made this very theatrical trailer about the process: http://www.microsoft.com:80/presspass/presskits/dcu//videoGallery.aspx?contentID=033512_MS_DCU_Zeusspokesman&WT.z_convert=Share
Definitely an interesting development in the security sector that I will be keeping my eye on.
